Privacy & terms

Clear rules for a local food marketplace. Here is what we collect, how we use it, and what we ask of everyone who joins.

Our privacy promise

Many cooks work from home, so privacy is part of how Homechef is built. Sensitive details stay restricted and public pages show only what people need to discover local food.

  • Home addresses stay private
  • Permit files stay restricted
  • Contact details are not sold

Privacy policy

This policy explains how Homechef handles information when you browse, create an account, operate a kitchen, or follow a kitchen.

Information we collect

We collect account details such as your name, email address, phone number, sign in information, language choice, and profile activity. Cooks may also provide kitchen details, menu content, photos, schedules, business records, and verification documents. People who follow a kitchen provide an email address or phone number.

Location and verification data

A cook may provide an exact address and map position so we can support discovery and pickup planning. For a home kitchen, the public map uses a stable approximate point rather than the exact location. Exact addresses, exact coordinates, and permit documents are restricted to authorised operations and are not displayed on public profiles.

How we use information

We use information to run accounts, publish kitchen profiles, show nearby kitchens, support live sessions and pop ups, send requested updates, review permits, prevent misuse, maintain security, troubleshoot the service, and meet legal obligations. We may use grouped or deidentified information to understand and improve the service.

When information is shared

We share information with service providers that help us operate hosting, authentication, maps, storage, email, monitoring, and related infrastructure. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect people or the service, or as part of a business transfer. We do not sell personal contact details. Public kitchen information is visible only when a cook chooses to publish it.

Storage and retention

We keep information for as long as it is needed to provide the service, maintain security and audit records, resolve disputes, and meet legal requirements. Retention periods vary by the type of information. We use access controls and other reasonable safeguards, but no online service can promise absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can update many account and kitchen details in the service, choose whether to publish a kitchen, unfollow a kitchen, and use the unsubscribe link in an email. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of personal information. We may need to verify a request before acting on it.

Children's privacy

Homechef is not directed to children who cannot legally consent to the handling of their personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission, please contact the operator of the service.

Changes and questions

We may update this policy as the service or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Questions or privacy requests can be sent through the contact channel published on tableside.kitchen.

Terms of use

These terms govern access to Homechef and tableside.kitchen. By using the service, you agree to follow them.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be able to form a binding agreement where you live. Keep account information accurate, protect your sign in details, and tell us if you believe your account has been used without permission. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account.

Our role as a marketplace

Homechef helps people discover independent cooks, home kitchens, cafés, and pop ups. Unless we clearly state otherwise, Homechef is not the cook, seller, employer, agent, or food provider. Any arrangement for food, pickup, payment, refunds, or fulfilment is between the cook and the customer.

Responsibilities of cooks

Cooks are responsible for the accuracy of their profiles, menus, prices, availability, allergens, pickup details, and claims. They must follow all laws, permits, licences, food safety rules, tax duties, and insurance requirements that apply to their activity. Verification on Homechef is not a guarantee of food quality, safety, or continuing compliance.

Responsibilities of customers

Customers must review menu, allergen, pickup, and payment information before making an arrangement with a cook. Tell the cook about relevant allergies or dietary needs and use reasonable care when collecting or consuming food. Homechef cannot confirm that any item is suitable for a particular person.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service to break the law, mislead others, harass people, infringe rights, distribute harmful code, collect data without permission, probe security, evade access controls, or interfere with the service. Do not publish private addresses, confidential records, or another person's contact details without authority.

Your content

You keep ownership of content you submit. You give Homechef permission to host, copy, format, display, and distribute that content only as needed to operate, promote, and improve the service. You must have the rights needed to submit it. We may remove content that breaks these terms or creates risk.

Service availability and third parties

We may change, pause, or discontinue features, and we do not promise uninterrupted access. The service relies on third party products such as identity, mapping, storage, and email providers. Their own terms and privacy practices may apply when you use their services.

Suspension and ending access

You may stop using the service at any time. We may restrict, suspend, or end access when reasonably necessary to protect people, comply with law, investigate misuse, address risk, or enforce these terms. Certain provisions continue after access ends when their nature requires it.

Disclaimers and responsibility

The service is provided as available. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Homechef does not make implied guarantees about listings, cooks, customers, food, or uninterrupted access. Homechef is not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or responsibility that cannot legally be excluded.

Changes and questions

We may update these terms when the service or legal requirements change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms where permitted by law. Questions can be sent through the contact channel published on tableside.kitchen.
